Today, experience a highlight of your trip, as you visit the renowned Great Wall. On the way, if traffic allows, stop to photograph the iconic “Bird’s Nest”, the Beijing National Stadium where hosted many spectacular events of the 2008 Summer Olympics. Then, arrive at the amazing Great Wall and walk along its ramparts as emperors once did. After lunch (on your own. Our guide will offer recommendations however.), visit the elegant Summer Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the largest imperial garden in the world. The grounds include over 3,000 structures with a variety of pavilions, towers and arched bridges surrounding Lake Kunming (enjoy a boat ride if weather permits).

This morning, see the vast Tiananmen Square and the extravagant Ming-era Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City, which was the royal residence of over 24 emperors of Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty since 1620 to 1911. Board high speed rail for a 4 hours and 30 minutes ride to Shanghai. Our local driver will pick you up upon arrival and transfer to your downtown Shanghai hotel.

Embark on a full day tour to ancient town Zhujiajiao, a well-preserved yet less touristy ancient water town along the Yangtze River. Known as “Shanghai’s Venice”, it appeared as a market during the Three Kingdom Period. Immerse yourself in this traditional Chinese water town, where classic Chinese landscaping meets timeless antiquity, leisure, and tranquility.

Visit Oriental Pearl Tower, the third tallest TV Tower in the world, to have a panoramic view of the Huangpu River. Then walk around Yu Garden, a renowned traditional Chinese garden to get savor the essence of Chinese gardening art. Enjoy a leisure stroll on the Bund showcasing historical foreign buildings from colonial times.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your departing flight home/onward.
